In the times when many neilstonians belived in false god and even worse were pagans there was a religious revelution! proddies were kicking out the catholics so all the stuff in the churches were chucked away. Included in this stuff was a statue of the virgin mary. All the stuff including the statue was chucked in the river levern in the midgehole glen. Several years later some neilston farmers were down the glen near the river when they spotted something incredable. There was a vision of the virgin mary in the exact place where the statue had been thrown in. From then till now this romour has been debated but many pilgrims come to the midgehole glen to pay tribute. Whether you belive or not is up to you! beware if you doubt the old yins will get ya

The pad is considered by the locals a place of great inmportance! as you should know the pad has a mystic aura but did you know the mystery surronding it!?!?!?! well in the dark ages when mary queen of scots was a young maiden dabbled in free love it is rumoured that she often enjoyed hunting in these areas. claims are that mary queen of scots sat on top of the pad while on a visit to our fair lands! if this is true then neilston is truely blessed!
